Delhi Air Pollution 2025
People in Delhi believed that the air quality would finally become better when they conducted a “Green Diwali” celebration in 2025. But did it actually work? The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has recently given us some information that tells a mixed story.
What the data says
The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi on Diwali night was roughly 285, which is a little better than the 310 that was reported in 2024. Even while that’s better, it still falls into the “Poor” category, which implies the air was still hazardous for people with asthma or other health problems.
Experts argue that things have become better since people are more aware and there are fewer locations to buy fireworks. The administration of Delhi also supported fireworks and lights that are excellent for the environment. But the pollution levels were rising due of car emissions and dust from construction sites in the neighborhood.
Citizens’ Work Is Showing Promise
Several resident welfare groups claimed that this year there were less firecracker sounds and less smoke in the air. A lot of individuals chose LED decorations and organic rangolis, which suggests that attempts to raise awareness are starting to work.
What Needs to Be Done Next
Scientists who study the environment argue that one “Green Diwali” won’t fix Delhi’s pollution problem. Delhi has to undertake long-term reforms to make it easier to breathe, like better waste management, tougher building rules, and cleaner ways to get about.
Delhi’s Green Diwali in 2025 may not have been ideal, but it was a small but essential step toward a cleaner future.
